Questions about Desvelio

The same answers as on the rest of the site, in one place. No accordion. No invented results.

The product

What is Desvelio, exactly?

A layer of intelligence drawn on top of your own site. You do not open a separate dashboard: you browse your homepage and your articles as usual, and you see, on each story, how many people are reading it and what would be worth doing with it right now.

Why a HUD and not a dashboard?

Because dashboards get checked in the morning and then forgotten. Newsroom decisions are taken looking at the homepage, not looking at a chart. Desvelio puts the figure where the editor is already looking — labels on each story, tasks with a why. There is no other tool to open and no chart to interpret before you know what to do.

Where does the newsroom use it?

On the page they already have open (the homepage, a section, or the article), in an overlay. How the story is doing and what would be worth doing show up right there, in sentences you can talk through in the newsroom. There is no other place to go to look at data.

What do we have to install?

A small change in your site’s code: one line of script in the template and a CNAME record. We handle the rest. Nobody on the team has to install anything, and there is no expensive rebuild.

How long until it is running?

Between 24 and 72 hours. We configure it with you. It is not work for your technical team — their part of the call is about fifteen minutes.

Do we have to change CMS or modify the site?

No. Desvelio sits on top of the published site, not inside the CMS: it never writes to your site and we do not redesign anything. It works with any CMS on the market (WordPress, Arc XP, Xalok, Drupal, Protecmedia, Glide, Labrador…) and with any custom build. If your site shows in a browser, Desvelio works on top of it. As soon as that line loads, the newsroom already has it running.

How many people on my team can use it?

As many as you want. We do not charge per user: the price depends only on your pageviews.

Who on my team can get in?

Whoever you want. Access is one key per site, not per person: we do not charge per seat and we do not make you manage users. The session lasts 30 days per browser, and you can revoke the key whenever you want, which signs everyone out at once. If someone leaves the team, you change the key and that is it. We also do not store who looked at what.

What languages is it in?

The interface is fixed per site. It is available in every language.

Do readers see it?

No. Without the key in the address, the module is not even downloaded. For anyone who comes to read, your site is exactly the same.

The trial

Can we try it on our own site before we pay?

Yes — on your real site, not a mock-up: your readers, your data. Thirty days free, no card and no commitment, to see if it enters the routine and takes effect. If it does not fit, we take the script off, revert DNS, delete the data, and nothing remains outstanding.

What exactly do you need from us?

One line of script in the template and a CNAME record. Nothing else. Section setup, homepage, URL patterns, and featured slots we do ourselves by looking at your site.

Do we have to remove the analytics we already use?

No, and we do not recommend it. They coexist without a problem, because they measure different things. The tool you already have stays for history and reporting; Desvelio is for the newsroom’s day to day — what to do in the next twenty minutes. Nothing to import: we start counting from zero, in parallel, on day one. You can leave both on for the whole month and compare.

What happens to the data if we do not continue?

We stop collection that same day and delete what is there. If you want a copy first, we give it to you. There is nothing to cancel, because nothing was signed.

What if we have several titles?

Write to us. The trial is per title, but if they share a CMS we can open two at once at no charge. Editorial groups can also have a single contract and invoice later.

Price

What is included?

Every feature on the website, and every one we add, at no extra cost. Readers and Competitors today; Searches and Content join the same price when they ship. A custom setup, no cookies, and the person who designed the service replies.

Do we have to sign a year?

No. Monthly has no lock-in: stay a month and leave, no penalty. Yearly does commit the year, for 10% less. It is the same service.

How do we pay?

By bank transfer to an account in Spain. Monthly, at the start of each month. Yearly, when the paid service starts. Always after the free 30-day trial.

One price per domain?

Yes, on the published scale. There are also discounts for pageview volume and for domains; editorial groups can have a single contract and invoice. Write to us and we work it out.

What if volume spikes for a month?

A story that explodes does not change your bill. If your traffic rises in a sustained way and you move to another band, we warn you before we touch anything. If it is a one-off, we leave it alone.

Are taxes extra?

Yes. The figure is before tax. We invoice from Spain: Spanish VAT or European VAT, depending on the customer. We also serve customers outside Europe: the service is available worldwide.

Readers

Does it replace Google Analytics and other dashboards?

No. Analytics remains the history and the business reporting. Readers lives on the shift: what is happening now and what to do on the page the editor already has open.

Does it decide the homepage for us?

No. It detects, explains, and proposes. Editorial judgment rules. A suggestion can be ignored without the system insisting.

How fresh is the number?

It refreshes every few seconds while the panel is open. Today sits next to a typical same weekday, or yesterday at this hour. It is the shift, not the weekly report.

Competitors

How many competitors can I follow?

Up to three on the base plan. That limit is deliberate: watching fifteen makes noise, not judgment. The three that actually compete for the same audience are the ones that move decisions.

Does it tell us to copy them?

No. It shows a gap or an exclusive. You decide whether that story is yours to write, to brief, or to leave. Silence is allowed.

How do you read the other papers?

We read what they publish on the open web — their homepage and their feeds. We do not ask them for access, and they do not have to install anything.

What if a paper has no feed?

We still read the homepage. A missing feed only slows the extras, not the hole on portada.

Searches

What does Searches tell me?

What people search to find you — and what you are leaving on the table. Which of your articles sit on page two of Google, one headline tweak from page one; which queries show you a lot and click you little; when two of yours compete for the same search; and which of your stories is fading on Discover.

Isn’t that the same as Search Console?

The data comes from there, yes: Google’s official API, with your permission. Search Console hands you a 40,000-row table and leaves you alone. We say: this article is in position 11 and has been rising for three days — change the headline. And we say it on the article, not in another tab.

What access do you need?

Read access to your site’s Search Console property. No writing, no Ads, no Analytics. You authorize it with the Google account you already have, and you can revoke it whenever you want.

How delayed is the figure?

Google’s delay, not ours: Search Console publishes with a one-to-three-day lag, and it hides very small queries. We do not hide that — Searches is not live. Readers is the now. Searches is the days-and-weeks layer.

Does it include Discover?

Yes, where Google exposes it. For many Spanish publishers Discover weighs more than search, and it deserves its own reading: it does not behave the same, and you do not fix it the same way.

Does it replace my SEO tool?

No, and it does not try to. Ahrefs or Semrush are for months of strategy and links. Searches is for today’s shift: which headline to touch before the piece goes cold. They sit well together.

What actions does it fire?

Change the headline (position 8–15, many impressions, few clicks), Update it (a piece of yours that was working has started to fall), You are competing (two of your URLs for the same query), and Demand gap (people search something with volume and you have published nothing).

When will it be available?

Fourth quarter of 2026, on the same glass as Readers and Competitors, at no extra price. It is the next reading we ship: the data already exists, it is official, and it needs no setup per site. The 30-day trial already includes every reading we send.

Content

What does Content tell me?

What is worth writing today, with arguments. It crosses three things we already have: what your readers are actually reading, what is being searched, and what the others are publishing. From that come gaps (demand with no coverage), saturations (everyone is on the same thing, including you), and veins (a topic where you clearly beat the average).

Where does the data come from?

From the other three readings. Content has no source of its own: it is the layer that brings them together. That is why it arrives last — it needs Searches and Competitors to be mature.

Will you tell us what to write?

No. You decide, with information you do not have to hand today. We do not know if a topic fits your editorial line, if you have the source, or if the risk is worth it. We know that 4,000 people searched something this week and nobody in your market covered it. That is a figure for the nine o’clock meeting, not an order.

Does it write stories? Does it generate headlines with AI?

No. We do not write or publish. We never have write access to your site. We are a reading layer, and that line we will not cross.

How is this different from Google Trends?

Trends tells you what Spain is searching. It does not know what you published, what your competitors published, or what works with your audience. Content starts from your site and your market — not from a whole country.

What actions does it fire?

Gap (demand with no coverage around you), Saturated (five pieces in the sector on the same thing: try the side angle), You win here (you beat the average on this beat — keep going), and It is cooling (a topic that used to bring recurring traffic has stopped).

When will it be available?

First quarter of 2027, on the same glass, at no extra price. It is the last of the four because it needs Searches and Competitors to be mature. The 30-day trial already includes every reading we send.

Privacy and measurement

Do we have to change the cookie banner?

No. Desvelio writes nothing on the reader’s device: no cookies, no localStorage, no device fingerprint. You do not have to change the consent banner or add a new vendor to the third-party privacy policy. And because measurement does not depend on consent, you also count whoever rejects it: the figure is much closer to the people who actually opened the page.

Who can see our figures?

Only you, your team, and the author of Desvelio. No sharing data across team members, outside companies, or even other publishers the way other tools do. Real privacy.

Are you GDPR compliant?

Yes. The servers are in the European Union and we sign a processing agreement (GDPR). You are the controller and we are the processor. We do not collect data that would identify a reader.

Where is the data, and how long do you keep it?

The data is in the EU. Detail is kept for a month. The reader identifier is recalculated every calendar month, so what is archived cannot be linked back to a person.

Do you store IP or User-Agent?

They are used on the fly to know the country and tell bots from people, then discarded. They are not columns in any table of ours.

Does it run on our domain?

Yes. The script is first-party and is served from assets.yourdomain.com. Blockers do not knock it down, which is also why you will see more readers than in Analytics.

Why don’t your numbers match Analytics?

Because ours usually come out higher. Analytics loses everyone who runs a blocker; we do not, because the script goes through your own domain. On the publishers where we have checked, visits sit within 4% of GA4, but pageviews come out 12% to 14% higher. We are not inflating anything: it is what Analytics does not get to see.

What if the site is slowing us down?

Desvelio measures LCP, CLS, INP, and TTFB on your pages. You do not have to take our word: it will be on screen.
